Story time

“My martial arts guru taught me an important life lesson.”

“Yes, master?”

“”Know your opponent, both weaknesses and strengths.  Familiarise yourself with your opponent’s closest advisors.  Subliminally convince an advisor to play up your opponent’s weaknesses as strategic power.  Play up your strengths as weaknesses, especially ones that match your opponent’s weaknesses.”

“And what else, master?”

“Set up the chess board and play the game.  There’s always time for a match before stepping onto a battlefield, real or simulated.”

“Yes, master.”

“And stop calling me master.  I am but a humble landscape gardener, despite appearances to the contrary.”
